Unhappy Hipsters

Here's a brilliant site to check out: Unhappy Hipsters. They take photos from Dwell Magazine and add funny captions.

And one day, a ladder appeared. Julien climbed with guarded optimism; could this be the way out for which he’d been searching all these weeks?

This post brought to you in the Arial font because it is more modern which is somehow better.

More Bourdain Beating...

Hmm... this Savage Chicken cartoon was released day after the No Reservations episode I blogged about earlier in the week aired. Coincidence? Probably, but it's a damn funny one. I know, I know, I need to let it go. Give me a few more days of stewing and I'll be over it, I promise... unless of course it happens again. Oh please no....

Part 3

Well, I finally got something to post showing those were my words. I feel a little better about that. Not better about the TV show, but a little better about the plagiarism. You can view the post in the forum HERE.

Sincerest Form of Flattery My Ass....

Click on image to view larger.

Well, well, well....
It seems last nights angry rant about Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations was good enough for someone to copy HERE. I sure do wish they had given me credit though. They used the name "scoopma" and I am a little annoyed with them.

I actually tried to post to the shows forum under the name reallystrangegirl but apparently I used too many "trigger words" and it wouldn't post. I edited out the naughty words and tried again - still wouldn't post. Some douchbag with slightly better editing skills managed to get it up there though and while I am glad my opinion is now known to The Travel Channel and Mr. Bourdain it is MY opinion and those are my words and I wish they had given credit where credit was due. Fuckers.

And while I am back on this subject, let's talk a little more about advertising.

I get it. In order to pay for cool things sometimes one must whore themselves out a little and do something distastful to make a living. A little part of me dies a little everytime I hear a favorite song rehashed by some rank amateur for a car commercial. But I understand the need to make a living and in the music industry it is extremely difficult. It's a sad truth in this day and age and I am not so naive as to fault musicians for not keeping their music "pure".

But last nights product placement was terrible. Not only was it poorly done, it made the whole show into a commercial! This is especially nauseating after in this very same episode Tony was ranking on the turkish dude who gave him a free drink. The guy turned the cup in Tony's hand towards the camera for a better view and smiled. Tony then said something snarky about it.

I understand the need for advertising, but please, save it for the commercial breaks. That's what they are for. Please don't ruin an otherwise terrific show by cramming an ad down my throat. You could have at least softened the blow with a snarky remark the way Mike Rowe does when hawking Ford Trucks on Dirty Jobs. That irritates me too but at least he knows he's a whore.

Oh Tony....

What was with the blatant, whorish "product placement" during tonights episode of No Reservations? Tony, you disappointed me tonight.

About 2/3 of the way through an otherwise pleasant, interesting and informative episode of this award winning television show Anthony Bourdain leans across the table at an open air restaurant and says "Let me get this" and the picture zooms in onto a hand holding a brilliant blue Chase Sapphire credit card.

Really Tony? Really? Could you or your agent or whoever not find a better way to raise money to fund this programming? Are sheeps brains really that fucking expensive that you need to whore your self out like this? Why'd you have to go and take a great show and turn it into a goddamn commercial?

Frankly, I am very, very disappointed in you Tony. And when it comes to watching what is one of my favorite television programs I am afraid I now have some serious reservations. If this is the way the rest of the season is going to play out please take that Chase Sapphire card and shove it up your ass.

Haiti

I've been blogging into the future lately and loading a bunch of posts and letting them post themselves because I knew I was going to be busy during the beginning of the year. This is the first chance I've had to sit a write about the unbelievable human tragedy that occured in Haiti last week.

I am afraid there will be people taking advantage of the situation to set up false charities to funnel money into their own pockets so when you donate, and you should donate, please do it wisely.

I do happen to know that texting the word HAITI to 90999 to donate $10 is legitimate, as is The Red Cross. There is also THIS PROJECT that I found over on Patty's Blog if you want to put a more personal spin on your donation.

UPDATE:
Texting in your donation may not be the best way to help afterall... at least not in the short term. You see... the folks who desperately need the money NOW won't be getting it until April or so... basicly when people pay their phone bills. Full story HERE.

And Now For Some Political Nudity!

Don't forget to vote tomorrow! It's Important!
And now I give you Scott Brown naked. Really. I still won't vote for him.

Photo-A-Day!

So I have rebooted the Photo-A-Day Project, but this time I'm doing it with a twist. ("Cause who doesn't like a little twist?) This time not only will I be posting shots to Flickr, I will also be using a company called ShutterCal.

This company will not only display the photos in a fun calendar format, it will also print the photos for me in a cool format reminiscent of an old Polaroid. What fun! I am hoping this will give the kick in the ass I need to get through this project this time. Wish me luck!

*sigh*

Overwhelmed by hormonal mood swings and a sudden need to "fix" everything and everyone... or clean something. Some of us are more interesting broken though, but some could sorely use some fixin'.

And can I just say that this year, more than ever, I am glad the holidays are over?

And I wish I had a month off and that it was warmer?

I really should be heading to bed...

...fuckin' hormones.

Happy Belated New Years!

Misfits Hockey Team?
Winter Classic Brunch Gang

I posted a cute picture a couple of days ago for New Years but did not write a proper post. The last few days have been quite eventful and full of many ups and downs. Fortunately the ups far out number the downs. We had a crew over for a Winter Classic Brunch and Ron was a hero in the kitchen that morning! And The Bruin's pulled a huge win out of their ass at the last minute and all was right with the world.

We got to see many friends over the last few days (and weeks) which was great and yesterday I photographed my last scheduled big-ass event for a while. Now to edit like a crazy woman for the the forseeable future. Thank you Carrie for all your help yesterday! And for those of you who listened patiently while I verbally worried about this event, the horse behaved for the most part.

I do have one or two in-home portrait sessions in the offing (you know who you are) and other than that I think I might spend some serious time working on personal photo projects for the remainder of the winter. I have decided to reboot the Photo-a-Day project with the new year and I will post a link to those in the next day or so. This is project is my main resolution for the coming year, well, that and learn how to use my crock pot.

Now to go make that chili I was planning the other day. May you all have a Happy and Healthy New Year and may The Bruin's win the Stanley Cup.

New Years Treats!

I found two New Years Treats for you folks. One is a spoof on the "Keep Calm and Carry On" sign, and the other is a New Years Resolution Generator. Click on each image to view more.

Happy Birthday Tyler!
