What did you get for Christmas?

Well, we survived another Christmas! Hooray! I have a sore throat, but that's another story.

The funniest thing I got for Christmas this year was a complete set of Franklin Mint limited edition collectors plates from the original Star Trek Series still in their original boxes with their certificates of authenticity.

Yes... really.

You see, my mother-in-law has a knack for finding the strangest things. You never know what she is going to bring home next. And while I must admit, there is a small, nerdy part of me that thinks these plates are AWESOME, what the hell am I going to do with them? I won't be displaying them in my home, but it seems almost a shame to put them in the attic and forget about them. I thought about actually using them as dinner plates but it says on the back that they are not suitable for use with food. With my luck they are covered in lead paint.

Maybe I should have a contest to come up with the most creative use for them? Yeah... that's what I'll do! So here's the deal: Leave me a comment on this post for the most creative use of of these lovely "collectables". The more unusual the better. I might even scrounge up a prize for the best idea so be sure to leave a way to contact you if you would like to receive anything I might offer up as a prize.

This Made Me Smile

People who hand out leaflets make me a little crazy. (crazier?) On the one hand my brother, who happens to be a printer, always says to take the leaflet because it keeps a printer in business. On the other hand I really resent how rude and forceful some of these people pushing leaflets can be.

Sneakers

I've been on a quest for new sneakers for the last year or so. Everywhere I go all they have are sneakers with ALOT going on on them. Why is that? Why can't I find a pair of sneakers that are less than three colors, mostly black without looking like orthopedic shoes and don't have all kinds of stripes, patterns, straps and accents on them? Some sneakers look as if you're wearing a brick on your foot padded with Fruit Stripe gum.

They're simple, almost elegant... a tad on the orthopedic side but this is essentially what I am looking for. And they're $250 and made of horsehair. Yes... horsehair.

Random Blathering

I spoke too soon about feeling better. While my breathing is indeed a little better last night I woke up in the middle of the night with a coughing fit so bad I puked. Pretty, eh?

With the help of many nasty tasting lozenges and some cold medicne I had to show my license and sign a release to procure I made it through todays Bar Mitzvah without a cough or a wheeze. Now to take a shower and collapse for a while, then I'll edit photos.

Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired....

Dare I say it, I am starting to feel a little better today. Of course I felt so phenomenally BAD yesterday that perhaps I am just back to status quo and I'm mistaking it for good? Who knows...

I took my last pill in this latest run of antibiotics today and I had a massage this morning and both of these things should head me in the direction of feeling better. At least, I hope so.

In other news... anyone ever knick a mole while shaving? Little fuckers bleed like a son-of-a-bitch don't they? Just sayin'....

A Fine Whine....

Not much to say today other than I feel like crap today. Congested, crampy and busy... I am on antibiotics AGAIN for congested and crampy will take care of itself eventually. Busy will also take care of itself... just need to plow through the holidays.

I'm not at my best this time of year and I took on two photo events this holiday season as well... not sure what I was thinking, but there it is.

So yeah... I thought I was over this whole bronchitis thing but I've been feeling kinds cruddy all week... still coughing, having trouble breathing and generally not feeling quite right. Yesterday I had a really bad breathing day so I called the doctor and made an appointment for today. This morning in the shower I started coughing up crud again. YAY ME.

So I now on round two of antibiotics. I cannot be sick right now! Tomorrow is just the beginning of my busy holiday schedule. The next 3 weeks are going to be one hell of a ride!
