I am now the proud owner of one of "Lil" Dave Williamson's awesome walking sticks. He gave it to me this evening, just like that. I am completely amazed. I will post pic's asap.
Well... Where to begin? My mom went to the ER with chest pains the night before last and it took almost 24 hours for someone to bother calling me and telling me. Apparently 83.33% of my mothers offspring were not informed of this until the next evening. The are 6 of us so you do the math... 3 of us still live at home and why J or A couldn't pick up a phone sooner I may never know. And I work less than 2 blocks from the hospital! Anyway, rather than get myself worked up into an angry lather over that little piece of drama, I will stop that train of rant right now. I find out today that my mom offically had a minor heart attack and had a "stint" put in today. Apparently one of her pipes was 90% blocked. YAY. She's still in the hospital and will be there until tomorrow or so. She's surprisingly chipper and seems quite content to sit there and sew and watch TV. She's not too excited about her new dietary restrictions, or having to quit smoking, but you can't win them all. She's already asking when she can drive and clean the house. In lighter news... I'm going to be in the newspaper again. I am such a media whore. The reporter that wrote the first story came in to the library and saw my haircut. When I told him I cut it for Locks of Love he said "That would make a good story" and he sent a photographer down to the library to photograph me with my ponytail. I wonder what I can do next week to get in the paper?
Well, today turned into a big bowl of suck, but not as bad as it could have been. I know that sounds cryptic, but that's all I've got right now.I'll explain later... maybe. So here's a little humor on the situation... 'cause we all need a laugh now and then.Extremely NSFW.
Yes, I cut off all my hair. I am donating all 12+ inches of it to Locks of Love. I made the appointment for this over a month ago and just went in and did it. The hardest part so far has been re-learning how to use a hair dryer and actually style my hair.
Last night my 11 and a half year old nephew spent the night at our house. Last weekend my oldest friend spent a few nights at our house. Two wonderful and awesome experiences! It seems to be shaping up to be the year of the sleepover! I did not shove a camera in Dylan's face all night like I normally would have, and pretty much have done since he was born. He's very used to it by now and even told me it was okay to take [ictures of him but he did lay out one rule: No photos while he was sleeping. I decided to take a few quick snaps and put the camera away and just let him be himself. I even let him use my "old" camera (the 20D) and he shot a few of us with his camera which he brought with him. I think he shot more pictures of me than I did of him. I smashed my wee little toes on my left foot on the ironing board in the living room this morning so hard they still hurt now... I'm betting shoving them into tightly laced boots soon after didn't help matters. They are throbbing angrily now and I can't stand on my tiptoes with that foot. That can't be good. Dylan and I had a very pleasant lunch this afternoon at Pizzeria Uno's. On the kids menu they have a "Make Your Own Pizza" meal where they bring you dough, sauce and cheese and let you create your own pizza. I had never heard of this, not having any reason to have ever look at a kids menu before, and it looked like fun. We stopped at a coin & stamp store on our way north and Dylan scored a grab bag full of mystery coins for ten bucks. He was quite thrilled with the assortment of coins in the bag. (He's collecting coins these days if anyone has any cool looking ones) All the while a snowstorm was slowly raging outside and picking up intensity. We drove up to Framingham early to get ahead of it, and we were going to meet some family driving down from Bangor, Maine to see my show at the library. Unfortunately the storm got to be pretty bad, and is still going on as I type this, and they didn't make it much further south than Ogunquit. Ah well... there will be other shows. I'll try and plan the next one for summertime. So yeah, it;s still snowing and I hope it keeps snowing through the night because I don't really want to go to work tomorrow. Nope, I sure don't. Where was I? After lunch we head to Northboro to Bill & Amanda's house where I hang out for a while... chatting, taking a few photos of the baby, the dog, Dylan and then I let Dylan shoot a few more with my camera. I also got my ass handed to me in Wii bowling, tennis, and boxing. Ron and I played Wii at Alexi's last week and did I mention that thing is crack? Crack I tell ya! Very addictive little game system that is! I got the feeling Dylan didn't want me to leave because he kept finding more things to show me as I was trying to go. So that's how I spent my day off today. I didn't get any editing done today and that's okay. If I get a snow day tomorrow I promise to post new pictures. Wow, I just looked back over this post and I rambled on wuite a bit didn't I? Now it's time for bed.
What could be cooler than watching Star Wars with your nephew while playing Star Wars Monopoly and drinking chocolate milk out of vintage Star Wars glasses? That's right, nuthin'.
I just tried my hand at photographing this evenings lunar eclipse and you know what? It's really fucking cold outside! We stood out there for an hour and a half and I won't be able to see what I've got until my camera returns to room temperature. That's okay... I'm so behind I probably wouldn't have gotten to them until Easter anyway.
Ever get the feeling you meant to do something and forgot to do it? I just had that creeping sensation just now but I can't put my finger on it... Hopefully this feeling won't keep me up all night.
What a week it's been! It's been a bit of a whirlwind. Last week was the reception for my One Woman Show at the Framingham Public Library, Sharon came up from Mississippi and totally fucking surprised me, work sucked ass this week but a 4 day weekend is a surefire way to remedy that, I was in the newspaper, took a trip down memory lane and I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my camera equipment. I'll go into that more when the big expensive box arrives. I am officially poor now. Sharon came and stayed over for two nights and we had an impromtu all-night drunken photo session last night. Now that was alot of fun! Next up on my agenda is THE BIG CATCH-UP. I intend to blast through everything I am behind on in the coming weeks and with Sharon's permission I'll post some of the best stuff from last night/this morning soon. But tonight I'm gonna chill out for what's left of the night, watch some shitty TV and get some sleep. Yesterday Me, Ron and Sharon wandered around our old neighborhood, took some pictures, ate some pizza from an old hangout and poked around our old elementary school. It was a little creepy wandering the halls and we were pretty sure we'd be stopped and asked what the hell we were doing there but no one gave us a second look. I suppose we looked like we knew where we were going, which after spending 8+ years in that building we most certainly did. Ron called our old school "the creepy, hippy school" which I thought was rather funny. Well, It's time to go chill... I'll write more later.
Well, not quite, but this brings out the five year old in me. Beautiful song and dance moves! I have to find this movie now to view it in it's original context.
Psst! Sharon... I don't know if you have email access while you're here, but you obviously have internet access. We both officially have Friday off! We didn't even have to pretend illness or fake a death in the family! By the way, I am decadently eating brownies for breakfast right now. We had alot leftover and while eating brownies for breakfast may feel deliciously naughty right now I'm betting the charm of that is going to wear off soon.
Thank you to everyone who came out to see my show today! For those of you who missed the big party, the show will be hanging at The Framingham Public Library for the remainder of the month. Today was such a whirlwind I don't know where to begin. It was rather surreal to have just about everyone I know in one place, and I wasn't even wearing a wedding dress. It was a day of big surprises! My friend Sharon totally surprised me by flying up from Mississippi for this. Apparently it was her mom's idea. Well, you got me girl, and you got me good! To say I was shocked is an understatement. I haven't seen her since my wedding 11 years ago. Thank you both for coming today! Some of my classmates came out and one of them gave me a bottle of something called Bärenjäger. It's essentially honey and vodka and a pretty tasty addition to my boozy reportoire. Another gave me a print of a photo he shot of Ron's hand during a studio photography class. Thanks a bunch you guys! My uncle and his girlfriend drove up from New York too! I found out he knows THIS GUY. Bill, Amanda, Shae and Dylan gave me a beautiful bracelet and I got flowers from people too! I felt like a prom queen! Well, without the tacky taffetta of course. And a big thanks to Carol, Carrie and Ron for all the work they did today! Thank you all for making this a very special day! P.S. I just read Carrie's post and was reminded that I saw my husband dancing the Michael Jackson's Thriller this evening. That was so wrong on so many levels.
Reporting to you live from Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington , Massachusetts where... Oh, okay, not live, but I have just returned from Roller Derby! I ran into one of my teachers there this evening and I think he got frustrated and left halfway through the bout. (His initials are T.L. if any of my classmates are reading this) Evilicious of the Wicked Pissah's took a nasty spill and had to be carted off in an ambulance. Unfortunately I needed to talk to her this evening and didn't get a chance to before her accident. I hope she's alright. And the grand finale was the woman in the restroom puking while screaming into her cell phone. Pure comedy gold. I can't make this shit up. I walked in as we were leaving to one last potty stop before driving an hour home and choose a stall. the woman in the stall next to me is talking rather loudly to someone. I look under the stall partition at her shoes so I can identify her later and notice her shoes are pointing the wrong way. She is slurring her speach and a friend, who I later figured out was Blondie, is standing outside her stall saying "Hang up the phone" and C'mon, let's go" while pausing to turn and fix her hair in the mirror. I then hear a telltale splat noise that only comes from wet, warm and chunky hitting the surface tension of cold toilet water and more slurred yelling. "You don't understand..." *splat* "Blondie's here... all the blondes are..." *splat* "... gonna get raped." *SPLAT* "I don't want them to get raped tonight" *splat* "You come down here and buy me a drink." (Yeah, 'cause she needs ANOTHER one.) *splat* and so on... all the while her friend pops her gum and fusses with her hair. I have no idea what prompted this conversation but I made sure I washed my hands slowly so I could relay this drama to you personally. You're welcome.
Update on Evilicious: She needed 30 stitches in her face and broke her nose in 4 places. OUCH! Here's wishing her a speedy recovery!
I was interviewed for The Metrowest Daily News today! They are a local paper in Framingham. Whether or not they actually run it is another story... but still rather cool, eh?
It's the Year of The Rat! But more importantly, it's MY year! Mine I tell ya! I was born in the Year of The Rat and I am taking this as a good omen for the coming year. The last time this year came around was the year I got married and so far that has worked out rather well for me. Click on the above image to learn more about the Year of The Rat!
I voted today! Did you? I also had a gynecologist appointment today! Did you... nah, don't tell me, I don't wanna know....Yet there is something oddly fitting about this combination of activities if you think about it. I'm still terrific by the way.
It's Super Bowl Sunday and while I'm not a foot ball fan I have to admit I'll be watching the big game with some friends this evening. I enjoy watching other people who are fans watch sporting events. The words "Super" and "Bowl" are copyrighted by the way, which to me seems silly, but I've already ranted about that a few years ago so I'll spare you all. So today is the big dance, the Prom of all sporting events if you will. The New England Patriots get to go AGAIN. I'm more of a hockey fan myself, but living in New England with all this winning going around gets a little boring. Even the Celtics are having a good year. I think people in general always like and underdog, always want to win and love it when they do win, but get a little annoyed with continued success. How many of you would cheer every time Bill Gates earned more money? Ron told me something interesting last night about the activity of Emergency Rooms on nights of big sporting events. Apparently during the games themselves the ER is as quiet as a church, but after the game they are hopping busy. And not just with drunken revelers, but the majority of ER visits after a big game are from domestic assaults. People taking out their anger at the losing team on those close by. So yeah, I'll be watching and whether the Patriots win or lose ('cause if they lost, it would be funny... I have a dark sense of humor) I hope everyone has a fun, anger free evening and gets home safely. Even Giants fans.
