It's 4am, and I am AWAKE. A-W-A-K-E.

I can't sleep. I slept so much over the last two days that now I simply can't. It's almost 4am.

I still feel like ass warmed over, stepped on and dropped on my head, but on the bright side, with this early morning post I have succesfully completed another year of NaBloPoMo. YAY! Two years in a row I have succesfully blogged everyday for the month of November. It's a small thing, but it feels me with a sense of accomplishment. I hope to continue with the daily posting as long as I can.

I am a third of the way through my self portrait project as well... I'm behind on posting them, but I have successfully shot myself everyday since my birthday at the end of June. Here's hoping I didn't just jinx that project.

Well, I just took a dose of what I like to call "Mamacita's Home Remedy for Sleeplessness." Yup, Jagermeister. 'Cause NyQuil these days don't do shit, thanks to an overblown reaction to all the meth-heads in the world. And yes, I realize Mamacita is spanish and Jagermeister is German... sue me. It's 4am, what the fuck do you want from me? Fuckin' meth-heads messin' shit up for the rest of us... why don't you try heroin? I hear it's cheaper.

Considering how late it is, how tired I am and how crappy I feel I am surprisingly coherent this morning. (if I do say so myself) Ron has to be up in 2 1/2 hours... here's hoping I haven't kept him awake all this time. I have class all day Saturday and I don't know if I'm gonna make it though whole day...

I fear that once I am asleep I will sleep all of tomorrow, er, today, away. But I am sick, I shouldn't beat myself up over it, right? It's one thing to sleep through 2 workdays, but another thing completely to sleep away a day off. It seems like a waste to me.

Well, I should really try to get some sleep... every muscle in my body hurts, even my teeth hurt. My fingernails hurt. My brain hurts. I'm guessing this is the flu. I don't do flu shots anymore... long story... and it seems I have bet and lost this year. Ah well...

I want my blankie! Waaaaah!

I'm awake again, but I thnk I'm going right back to bed.
Everything hurts... my teeth hurt, even my eyeballs hurt! Every muscle id sore... my ears are plugged up, my head feels like its in a fishbowl and when I turn it the bowl move but the liquid inside doesn't. I can't seem to sleep for more than 20 minutes before waking up and rolling over, but sitting up is worse so I'm gonna go now.

I seem to have the plague...

Anyone else sick? I know Mark is, according to Carla. I pretty much saw everyone I know this weekend so I am sorry if I gave anyone this plague. If any of you gave it to me I may have to kill you. ;-P

Fuckin' A, this SUCKS.

Most illnesses have a 3 day incubation period... I started to feel shitty Tuesday night so yeah, the key days seem to be Friday and Saturday when I saw EVERYONE. Maybe it was Mr. Grabby-Ass at the bar Friday night who gave me this?

Again this may be my only post today... can't give up on NaBloPoMo with just 2 days to go! But why couldn't I be sick next week? FEH.

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Uck, Now What?

And now I am sick.
Got me a headcold. A wicked nasty one too.
Don't be surprised if this is all I post today.

I want my blankie.

And hw much wood wouls a woodchuck chuck?

It would take 16 shots of Tequila to kill me

Jagermeister wasn't a choice so I improvised.

Happy Birthday Ron!

Kris & Ron
Happy Birthday to the love of my life!

Ron shares a birthday with two of the coolest dudes in history. Bruce Lee would have been 67 today and Jimi Hendrix would have been 65.

Weekend Recap

Friday afternoon I shot my brothers family. Really, I did! In the face too! With a camera.... silly!

On the way to their house I pass a christmas tree farm. Outside the barn-like structure there were four really big older guys smoking cigarettes and directing traffic. I'd hardly call it traffic though... I think they were expecting hoards of people or something... don't they know everyone shops at the mall the day after Thanksgiving? Anyway, these four goons were waving me into the parking lot and gave me the look of death as I drove past like they were some kind of Christmas Tree Mafia or something.

Friday night was the Silas Church show at Brubergers in Framingham. If you missed it you missed a fun night! Not only did the band sound good but the side show was pure entertainment. Only the finest townies for this establishment!

A very intense and apparently horny older blonde woman was dancing with this big fat man most of the night, she couldn't keep her hands off him, but she also danced with anyone who would look at her. Fat man grabbed my ass at one point and I told him if he did it again I would hurt him. He seemed to take the threat seriously because he did n't try that again, at least not with me. ICKY.

There was much drinking and laughter. It was great seeing some old friends and we got a certain someone drunk enough to forget her troubles for a night. I shot pictures of course which will be up hopefully before the end of the year.

Saturday we spent a lovely day hanging out at Taki's house playing with Dany, taking picture's and enjoying our friends. I can't beleive how big Dany is getting! And how much she talks! I forgot how early little girls talk and talk and talk... I've been around little boys for far too long. I can't wait until my niece Shae starts talking. Those of you who said you were going to come and didn't missed a fun day.

Sunday we chilled out! Got some things done around the house, ran and errand, did some homework, laundry, dishes and computer work for Christmas. Overall a fun filled, jam packed weekend!

Pure Poetry

And here for your enjoyment is perhaps the finest example of Spam Poetry I have ever seen:

Every once in a while I get a piece of spam that if I did the right drugs might make sense. I bet I could read the above passage at a poetry slam and get a standing ovation.

'Tis the Season

The silly season has now officially begun! The leftover turkey is almost gone and it's time to hit the malls. Only this year, we won't be.

Yes, we are indeed pretty much done our holiday shopping. All we have left are a few odd things here and there that will be purchased online and a few things to make, wrap and send to parts unknown. Don't hate us.

Besides, who the hell wants to sit in mall traffic for four hours like THESE ASSHOLES at the Wrentham Outlet Mall? And the sad thing is the so called "bargain prices" often aren't all that good. We saw an item advertised for about $45 more than we paid for it online two weeks ago. Go figure.

I don't like to go to the mall on any day of the year, let alone any day after Halloween. And seeing Christmas decorations for sale BEFORE Halloween makes me want to buy a flame thrower and torch the nearest retail establishment. I get very stressed out this time of year and the internet has helped greatly in alleviating alot of the craziness. Also, limiting the gifts we buy for people helps.

So I won't be going anywhere near Route 9 if I can help it this year, and I may have to brave a Best Buy once to buy a gift certificate, but then I can kick back in my pajama's, put my feet up and write out holiday cards while watching Mythbusters and other nerdy shows over the next week or two.

We are almost done and it's not even December 1st. This may be the best Christmas ever. EVAR!

I'm Just Sayin'....

WTF?

THIS is complete bullshit.
And you would think Apple would be more sensitive to creativity instead of squashing it with advertising. This puts the angry back into this site, except I'm too cramptastic to put up more than one limply raised fist in protest at the moment. I'm pissed though...

Dreams

Last night was a night full of dreams... many, many dreams.

I dreamt I owned a haunted restaurant where some of the ghost hurt people. The dream was in black and white and the ghosts, when they had a definate shape, were the only things in color. There was a ghost of a beautiful arab/african american looking woman in a beige peacoat sitting at a table. Only three people could see her and she was one of the few ghosts that didn't try to disturb anyone. She wore a red winter scarf around her neck and just sat there looking sad. Of the three people that could see her one was an older man who looked like the husband of someone I work with and the other was a small african american girl who looked to be about 3 years old. The ghost woman never changed expression, but she came over and sat next to me, still looking sad. She took my hand in hers and the little girl toddled over and offered her a cookie. Only then did the ghost woman smile.

Other ghosts slammed doors in peoples faces, pulled chairs out from under people and caused general havoc. They weren't as defined in shape as the beautiful ghost woman, just flashes of menacing color. I heard in the dream a pounding like a door slamming over and over and I woke up thinking it was someone inthe house. I had a hard time getting back to sleep after that.

Once I did get back to sleep I dreamt I went to a Jewish Synogogue and sat through a service, which is odd because I have no idea what a Jewish service is like. I dreamt that one of the men refused to wear a yarmulka in the temple but I woke up before I could find out why. In the dream I was wearing my Sepultura sweatshitshirt as a jacket. It's from their Nation tour and has a five pointed (NOT SIX) star on it that happens to be yellow and people at the temple were giving me shit for it. One woman started screaming at me incoherently and I woke up.

After falling back to sleep again I dreamt I was in Scotland with Ron and my nephew Dylan. For some reason we have gobs of money (that's how I knew it was a dream!) and we were letting Dylan spend the summer with us there. In the dream he was a little older than he is now... or taller at least, and we were letting him dictate where we went from day to day, never planning more than 2 days out in advance. He would pick a place on a map and we would go investigate. In the dream the three of us were flying kites on the Isle of Skye just before I woke up. I don't know why I woke up then.

WTF?

Are you kidding me? It's fucking snowing out.
Not a few light early in the season flakes, won't amount to anything and looks kind of pretty snow, but serious, gross, gonna be a pain in the ass snow. FEH.

I've been meaning to shoot a few headstones for someone and I better do it before we get a blanket of permanent snow.

Self Pity Party and You're Invited!

Well, I feel like total ass today. Lack of sleep over the weekend, PMS, and I think I am getting/have a cold. FEH.

So much for riding the wave of good days last week. The cranky bitch is back folks.

I am determined to have a good week this week. SO THERE.

Another Squeeker...

Here I am blogging at the last minute yet again! I don't have alot to say other than today was a good day. I have had too many good days lately to be truly entertaining.

I'll try to be more bitter and angry tomorrow.

In the meantime, I know a few of you who are not having good days. I worry about you and if you know how to reach me if you need me. Yeah, I'm talking to you Mrs. I'm Sorry I Puked On Your Boots!

Who Needs Drugs When You Can Have Tuna Fish?

Last night I did indeed have tuna fueled dreams.

I dreamt I was on a class photo shoot to an abandoned building I have never seen before. It had the feel of a classic Kirkbride building from the inside, but looked more like a factory from the outside. There were sections of the interior that were like a video game and we had to jump and run and duck at certain points as if we were Sonic the Hedgehog. At one point of the dream the police got wind that we were all inside and it was a classic video game race against time to get out and not get caught.

At one point a classmate of mine fell into a river that flowed through the building and accidently swallowed some water and got very sick. at another point we were Me and two others were on the roof trying to see were the cops were. It was all very strange.

It was very surreal. Too bad I can't photograph my dreams.

Greetings Earthlings!

Well the last six days off from work were delightful and productive... and expensive, but it'll be worth it.

I worked all day today and had class and now I am pooped.

I just ate a late night tuna fish sandwich thus guaranteeing weird dreams and something way more interesting to blog about tomorrow.

Other than that, I've got nuthin'.

I got alot done in the last 6 days as well including most of our holiday shopping. Okay, now you can hate me.

Scotland Day 3 is Up! (finally!)

McElman_070711_0904
Click on above image to see more!

Random Blathering

I took over 900 shots of Roller Derby last night! It was a blast. I also to a skate hit to the kneecap, but that's the risk you take when shooting from the floor. I have some very mild bruising which looks suspiciously like the diameter of a skate wheel. I don't know when the photos will be up... I'm still neck deep in Scotland photos.

Speaking of Scotland, day three will be going up real soon! They are almost ready! I have about 25 or so left to sharpen and process. I think I am being too much of a perfectionist with these, which is why they are taking so damn long. I am learning alot about Photoshop though! Not that these photos need Photoshopping mind you, but let's just say I want the clouds to look like they really did on that day. You can never expose for clouds AND the subject without fancy filters which I do not have. I should go get a neutral density filter plus a few others at some point. I'll probably wait until I upgrade my camera for filters and new lenses though.

Note to Self:

A Rare Species?

McElman_071107_3966
Sadly, no, not rare at all around my house. This is a GIANT dust bunny, or as we like to call it, a feral merkin. Don't know what a merkin is? Go HERE to find out.

Chew On This

Alright, I gotta write something a little more substantial than one sentence bragging about my new toys, er, I mean tools. It's been a long but fun and productive day... what more can I say? a gal can get used to this being on vacation at home thing! Got some holiday shopping ideas down too... half a day of shopping online and it's done! SHWEEEET!

And Ron's parent's are in Chicago for the weekend so it's almost like a real vacation! Woot! Well, as pooped as I am right now I'm gonna go take my daily photos and see if I can get the last 4 days uploaded before I go to bed.

There... that was a much more meaty post, if not entirely filling.

Let the fun begin!

I just bought THIS!
Woo-hoo!

Roller Derby This Saturday!

Roller Derby this Saturday night in Wilmington!
Fun for all ages! Come on! You know you want to see this!

Click on BDD logo for details! See you there!

Cool Product Alert!

These are cool! But I wouldn't pay $35 for them! Maybe a certain camera store I know of can offer them as stocking stuffers this Christmas? They look easy enough to make. I say wrap them up nice and charge $10 for them.

I was going to save this for my annual Holiday Shopping Post but I thought I'd share it now. The Holiday SHopping Post will be coming on Black Friday.

Random Blathering

I suppose I should post something more interesting than a Zork-PacMan crossover game, eh? As cool as it is it isn't something that has mass appeal. How many of you even know what Zork is? Okay, besides Sharon and Kenny that is.

Well, we are both officially on vacation until Tuesday and so far it's been nice. we've been cleaning and relaxing and I've been going through everything I shot in the last year and a half trying to select the best 50 or so shots for my second to last class at school, Refining Portfolio. The teacher for this class has a reputation for being brutally honest. This could be really good or really bad. I don't want to think about how bad this could be.

Now it's time for bed.

Nerd Alert!

What do you get when you mix Pac-Man with Zork?
You get THIS.

Done, done, done!

I'm a sleepy girl with alot to do today... and here I am procrastinating. Actually, I am not really procrastinating since I committed myself to one post per day for the month of November so this is now on my to do list.

And now it's done for today.
Yeah, this is a lame entry... forgive me.

Try again...

Grrr....
I post, then it works, I post again and it goes away.
Feh.

Monday, November 05, 2007

What the....?

Alrighty... I've posted twice today and Blogger isn't cooperating! Puttin' a cramp in my my NaBloPoMo style... not cool. Try and try again.

Remember, Remember...

Happy Guy Fawkes Day!
Who? What? Guy Who you say?
Go HERE for more info!
I have this sudden urge to watch V for Vendetta now.

A Case of The Mondays?

Here I am getting todays post over with.
Don't know what to say though... I'm busy, I'm in pain, I don't like my job, my house is a mess... what more can I say?

How about I'm almost done with school, I have a place to live, I have a job and I may be in pain but at least I can walk, breath, eat and do my best to get things done.

I'm doing my best to stay positive and not to go down a bad road here, but some days it's harder than others. On the bright side, out of the next two weeks I'm only working 5 days. Don't hate me.

Over and out.

I hate Seinfeld.

I had a work rant brewing but it went away.
Not supposed to talk about work anyway... could be bad future mojo and all that. Let's just say my job is often rant worthy and leave it at that.

And to my co-workers who insist that I would *LOVE* Seinfeld: I don't. I don't think he's funny. So there. Further proof that despite 20 years there those people don't know me at all.

Random Stoned Thought Process

My back hurts again, or perhaps I should say still. I have good days and bad days. Today was a bad day. Bad enough to take a pill other than over the counter ibuprofen that comes with an addiction/narcotic warning and makes me see shit that ain't there. It's either that or take the one that makes me sleepy and groggy for days afterwards and leaves me with a taste in my mouth akin to licking the ass of Death himself. I chose the fun pill, and I only took half.

Then we went food shopping. Food shopping at 10:30 on a Saturday night hopped up on muscle relaxants is strange. I don't think I shut up the entire time we were there. Yakkityyakkityyakkity....

Now I feel a little tired and dizzy. I should probably go to bed. I also feel like staying up and doing shit, or watching old movies and eating popcorn and half-off Halloween candy. I feel like I could knit sweaters for every child in the universe right now before the sun rises in the morning and I can't even knit. My lack of knitting skillz (fo shizzle, yo) is a source of shame for my mother, who is a master at it by the way, but I digress. Don't even say "But I can teach you!" You can't. Trust me. P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C.

So yeah, I feel a little stoned right now... like that time with the bong in the woods... you know who you are and you know of what I speak Mrs. Snoopy Bong Girl.

I find it funny that my typing skillz (yo) don't seem to suffer the way they do when I blog drunk, as I have been known to do now and then. Am I as entertaining on goofy pills as I am drunk? I'll find out in the morning when I read this I suppose. I do crack myself up afterall.

Okay, I gotta go now... I think the keyboard is melting.

So Long Fabulous Moolah!

Happy Day of The Dead Everyone!

Yo! Yo! Yo! It's Nablopomo Time!

Behold!
Today is the first Day of National Blog Posting Month!
And I am off to a slow start.

I actually just now remembered that I had committed myself to this insanity again this year and it's about 11:30pm.

My bad.
