What did you do today?

My favorite holiday is coming up fast! I love Halloween!
My costume is a surprise... some of you know what I am going to be so please don't spill the beans. I'll post pictures of course!

This years getup is quite a departure for me. No historical accuracy, no corsets, no frippery. This year is all about silly fun and nerdiness. I have been painting accessories and putting my hair through a dry run. I am wearing a mask this year and I have to figure out how to get all of my hair under it. Anyone care to guess? Hee-hee!

In other news, I spent this afternoon on a rather odd errand. Someone in California who I've never met asked me to find a certain grave in Boston and collect a soil sample for them. I haven't been lurking in a cemetery in a long time and today was a beautiful day for it. If I didn't have so much to do at home I would have stayed there much longer. The leaves all over the stones were beautiful and it was good to be outside.

Of course, I am delaying the real work I must get done by tinkering with my Halloween costume... I should be balancing the checkbook or editing photos. I can't really sit still right now though, which is a shame because I cut my cemetery visit short to come home and work on stuff.

*sigh*

And I have class all day tomorrow and a family dinner that could prove to be... oh SHIT! I totally forgot I was supposed to make my mom a birthday card today!

Oh crappity-crap-crap!

bye!

Wow, my skin has a rosy pink glow as if I actually went out in the sunshine recently... but really, I'm just drunk.

Busy, Busy, Busy Little Bee

I make a To-Do list about once a month. This is a list of projects in addition to the daily stuff like laundry and homework. Around the end of the month I go over what got done and what needs to be added to the next months list. October was a pretty productive month.

But not productive enough. I have a backlog of stuff going back a long, long time. Recently with the help of Ron's amazingly sweet, super quilting Aunt Nancy I finished the quilt me and someone who shall remain nameless started for Jack before he was born. Jack will be 7 in January. A big old X got drawn through that one and boy did that feel good. Woot!

There are piles of half finished projects littering the floor in our studio. Creeping piles that breed and shit and morph into little monsters that feel bigger every time I look at them. The number of them is slowly shrinking though. I a slowly slaying these Pile Dragon's!

I have a backlog of personal photo projects that have fallen by the wayside... school stuff has taken priority lately, but with Portfolio Review right around the corner it's seriously time to start going through those personal photos looking for hidden gems. I am in the home stretch at school and it will be good to reclaim my evenings and spare time.

Unfortunately, with the end of school comes the return of me working full time. UGH. I am NOT looking forward to this. Not one bit. It will suck, though having the income to go with it will be refreshing. I am hoping it doesn't suck too badly... just enough suckage to get me off my ass and put that newly acquired photography knowledge to profitable use.

When I return to work full time I also return to my schedule of having every other Friday/Saturday off. My guaranteed free Fridays are numbered folks and they are filling up fast with these insane little projects of mine. Wanna see me during the day? Get in line folks! I need to have some fun in all this insanity!

My house is a mess. But that's really nothing new. Actually it's not as bad as it has been. One day off in a manic cleaning fit will set that right... unfortunately I can't plan those kind of days. And boy oh boy today ain't one of them.

And Christmas is coming. I hate Christmas. I hate the shopping, the madness, the shitty music, all of it. I am determined once again this year not to set foot in a mall and to do the bulk of my shopping online. I'm makin' a list and checking it twice folks. This is nothing new and I won't bore you with my holiday mental instability.

I think I am starting to feel overwhelmed again. Oh boy...

Dreams

The other night I had a dream that my husband got eaten alive by sharks. In the dream he looked at his watch and said I"I have to go" then walked off a pier into shark infested waters. His reaction when I told him about this dream was "That's how I feel when I go to work."

This morning I dreamt that a goose had somehow gotten into the house. It wasn't the house I currently live in or one I had ever been in before but I had to use the bathroom. When I opened the bathroom door there was a goose standing there. Then right before my eyes the goose hopped up on the toilet and took a dump. Then I woke up.

The radio was on when I awoke so who knows what news story I absorbing into my unconscious brain to envision that. Maybe I shouldn't eat chinese food right before bed like I did last night.

I didn't want to know... really...

My mother-in-law had cataract surgery yesterday and all is well. Well enough that she stayed up and watched the Red Sox win last night.

HOWEVER... I am very squeemish when it comes to my eyes or anyone elses eyes and she proceed to tell me in rather explicit detail when they did to her yesterday. Call me a pussy but not only did I think I was going to lose my lunch, but I actually thought I was going to pass out.

Icky.

Happy 35th Birthday Babe!
Welcome to the club!
We now have to check a new box on all those magazine quizzes!

I have a boo-boo

I made homemade spaghetti sauce yesterday, something i haven't done in years. I also burnt myself pretty badly while doing it. It's amazing how hot tomato sauce can get.

I went to stir it and I didn't realize how hot it had gotten when a molten bubble of sauce burbled up and landed on my right hand. In the process I full the spoon from my hand and rushed over to the sink to cool it off and that combined with the continued bubbling of the sauce caused my kitchen to look like a crime scene.

The cuticle of my thumb is a big nasty blister now as is part if my right forefinger. It's not terribly big but it makes typing and hold a camera interesting. The cuticle blister is gonna hurt for days... days I tell ya.

Can you say ouchies?

Christmas is Coming and The Goose is Getting Fat...

Yes folks, that terrible time of year is approaching faster than you can say "Thanks Aunt Beatrice for those lovely slipper socks."

I am very likely going to be insanely busy getting my schoolwork done in preparation to graduate (can you believe it?) and we are going to start our holiday shopping early.
We will be following the same gameplan we have in previous years where we only buy gifts for immediate family and the children in our lives. If you are a friend of ours, we love you dearly, but don't buy us ANYTHING (Yeah, I'm talkin' to you Carrie!) because we aren't doing it. Nope. Nuh-uh.

If you happen to be related to me and have received a holiday gift from us in the past feel free to opt out on the holiday thing this year. Let us know if you would like to participate in our "Don't buy us anything and we won't buy you anything" plan.

If you are related to us and you insist on playing Santa and would like suggestions as to what to get us email me for a list. If you know my parents or Ron's parent's and want to drop hints in their ears for us feel free! ;-) Gift certificates to Barnes & Noble, Staples, Officemax, and Amazon.com are always good. Stay away from restaurants, movie theatres and Best Buy... we don't need them.
Merry Halloween Everyone!
I will repost this again as a reminder in the coming weeks.

Somebody's Got A Case Of The Mondays...

So I was talking to a classmate last night when the discussion turned to our day jobs when I said "I've been at my job so long it has become a permanant wedgie on the ass-crack of my soul"

I think she may have wet her pants when I said that.

You can dance if you want to... You can leave your friends behind...

THIS is the strangest thing I've seen all day, and coming from me that means alot.

Monday, October 08, 2007

Really?

I don't know about you but I tend to get alot of spam thinking that not only am I male, but I am also in desparate need of enlarging or enhancing my naughty bits with modern pharmaceuticals.

Today I got a spam email message with this in the subject line: "There's no doubt about it, a woman wants to feel full."

To that I'd like to quote some famous comedienne, whose name escapes me at the moment, "If it's attached to you and reaches me, it's long enough" and I would like to personally say that if I want to feel "full" I'll eat an entire box of oreo's.

It's Official!

I'm doing that crazy blog every day for a month thing again this year. Why? Because I'm a fuckin' masochist, that's why. I won't totally beat myself up if I miss a day though because I have a busy couple of months ahead of me. All you writer-types might want to sign up as well... it's actually fun and is a good kick in the ass to write something every day.

I Want To See Some Art!

Now that it is getting colder out it's time to start thinking about going indoors and hunkering down for winter. What better way than to go to an art museum!

You get out of the house and you don't freeze your ass off! (much) I try to use the winter to feed my brain and see as much art and read as much as possible. Too often life gets in the way but I do try.

Below is a list of exhibits I would like to see and if anyone wants to take a field trip sometime, who knows when, let me know. Click on museum names for more info.

- The Danforth Museum
2007 New England Photography Biennial (Ends October 28th) This place is so close to where I work I am ashamed I haven't seen this yet.

- Hess Gallery - Pine Manor College
Lou Jones Exhibit - He's the artist in residence at my school. This one ends October 24th so I gotta hurry!

- The Photographic Resource Center
I don't care what's showing here, I just need to get my butt over there and check it out.

- ICA Boston
I've been meaning to get my butt over to this fabulous new place... just to check it out. THIS isn't a photo exhibit but it looks like fun.

- The Worcester Art Museum
I love this place. It has one of only two protraits in the world thought to be of famed Venetian courtesan Veronica Franco. Really. THIS also looks interesting.

- Fitchburg Art Museum
I'v enever been here either... does anyone know how big this place is? Is it worth the drive?

- Peabody Essex Museum
I LOVE this place! It never disappoints. I've been here twice in the last two months and there is a great exhibit going on right now consisting entirely og found photographs. I've already seen it, but you should go. Be sure to check out the Origami exhibit while you are there.

- Fuller Craft Museum
Another place I've been meaning to visit. Way down in Brockton.

- DeCordova Museum and Scupture Park
Not much going on in a photographic sense, but I love walking the grounds and shooting the sculptures at odd angles. Could be fun in the snow. There's a train exhibit!

- Rhode Island School of Design Museum
Not much going on here either... I'll keep checking because it's a fun neighborhood to prowl. Best in good weather though.

- Portland Museum of Art
This one is rather far away. I always check their website though to see if there is anything worth the drive.
