Random Blathering

Good golly gosh, Blogger templates are boring... Yes, this means I am considering tweaking this blog again. I'm not feelin' the love here. The stars are cool, but don't show up in all browsers and I do like how easily customized those boring templates are, but they are so, so boring. For now it will stay as is because I don't have time for this right now.

I am so behind on photos, cleaning, projects and am starting to feel overwhelmed by this. Ron tempted me this morning by suggesting playing hookey to relax, catch up and hide from the world for a day but I know if I do I'll just get behind at work and be in the same overwhelmed situation I am in at home. I am sorely, sorely tempted though.

I am determined NOT to take on too many more projects in the next couple of weeks and just plow through things I have started and get them done. Of course, I am blogging about this right now instead of actually doing this... if nothing I am a master of procrastination.

I am supposed to go meet my sister in Wellesley to scout photo locations but I don't really want to go. I know I should, but it would mean leaving here at 11:30 instead of at 2 and I could use that extra 2 1/2 hours to well, catch up on shit. I'll just go take a shower and see where my head is at. Maybe if the weather were nicer I'd be all gung-ho about walking around outside.

Perhaps it's the full moon blues?

Happy Birthday John!

As you can see, John was simply LOVING having a camera shoved in his face. Happy Birthday! Hope it was a good one!

When I fuck up, I fuck up good

Boy oh boy... when I find a flaw in a computer system or program I managed to find away to exploit this flaw to it's fullest. You see, the program I use to sort photos seems to have one major flaw. It will allow you to send anything to the recycling bin no matter how enormously huge it is and it doesn't ask you if you are sure you want to do this. I was overtired and thought I had selected a different folder.

I didn't panic because I figured I could just undue it or go to the recycling bin and just restore it. But wait! Where did it go? It wasn't there. *poof* It was gone, just like that.

To make a long story short I have lost most of what I shot in the month of March. And it was purely due to pilot error on my part. Fortunately I was backed up to the end of February and had all of April in two places, but poor March slipped through the cracks and now it's mostly gone. Ron, goddess bless him, manged to salvage about 15% of it and it's all in need of resorting.

I have learned many important lessons form this.
- BACKUP. BACKUP. BACKUP.
- NEVER do important stuff when you are exhausted.
- Never engage in a land war in Asia.

I am a dumbass and I know it and I don't want to hear it from y'all alter.

Now to go get ready for a wedding reception that was 35 years in the making.

I am SOOOO Sore!

What a wild, freaky, scary, cool and extremely interesting day!
Photos coming soon, I promise! I'm wicked behind so please be patient.

Okay, that was terribly vague. Let me elaborate some. Today I learned that I am woefully out of shape, that carrying a knife, however small, can mean the difference between a misdemeaner and a felony, you can only be arrested for tresspassing on certain kinds of state property on Sundays and if I ever need a lawyer I now know who to call. I plead the 5th on the rest online, but I'll tell all in person next time I see you. Oh, and go see Hot Fuzz... you wont be sorry.

These are so wrong on so many levels...

I survived.

I just had a dental cleaning... yay.

There are two hygenists at my dentist. There's the nice, gentle, thorough one and there's BIG BERTHA. Guess who I got today?

This particular hygenist is a big woman, not-so-gentle and she lectures you on your teeth no matter how well you care for them. She tortures you with her intruments of pain while her fleshy breasts are pressed into the side of your head. She doesn't let you rinse halfway through the tooth polishing portion of the ordeal and the stuff makes me gag if it's in my mouth for more than 5 seconds. On the bright side, she's fast, but she is brutal in her efficiency.

I got her name this time so for my next appointment I'm going to call the day before and if she's working I'm going to reschedule. I don't want this woman working on my car let alone my teeth. NEVER AGAIN.

This may haunt me until the day I die.

Shae Marie
Born 4/15/07 at 5:01am
6lbs 3oz
19 inches long

Well, for those of you who didn't know, Bill & Amanda were expecting! I didn't mention it here on the blog because the last time I mentioned that someone was expecting here it didn't turn out so well and I have gotten superstitious. So, SURPRISE! Bill & Amanda have a new baby girl.

This little gal is also 3 weeks ahead of schedule and a big surprise to everyone. Her baby shower was today and just in time too... they need all the baby gizmo's and wizbangs for sure now!

Now we have 2 nephews and 1 niece, in addition to all of our honorary nieces and nephews. I am glad to see a girl in our herd. Now to get her some skates and start training her for roller derby!

WOW!

Do y'all remember a while back I posted THIS about a young man turning 21 while in Iraq? Well, he recieved about 800 pieces of mail! Full story below.

From The Metrowest Daily News
Banks: A soldier's birthday surpriseBy Elizabeth Banks/Daily News staff Tuesday, April 03, 2007 - Updated: 11:25 PM EDT

When I last talked to George and Mary Ann Stein in January, George said he hoped his son, Aaron, received "an outrageous number of cards" for his 21st birthday.

Aaron, a Marlborough High School graduate, is now in the Army. Since October, he's been stationed in Iraq where he serves as a legal specialist. And it was in Iraq where he celebrated his 21st birthday on March 10.

Starting in January, George and Mary Ann sent out notices asking people to send Aaron a birthday card. Many of you who read my column in January not only sent cards and packages, but have been calling to see if Aaron was surprised and to find out the final tally.

So, here it is. In an e-mail to his parents, Aaron said he received separate deliveries of 597 cards, 20 "big envelopes" that included a total of 200-plus cards (most of these envelopes, Aaron said, came from schools and churches), and about 16 packages "with stuff" in them.
In all, Aaron got approximately 800 cards.

And was he surprised? Absolutely.

From Aaron: "It was awesome, very exciting and interesting." Aaron has sent thank-you notes to people who sent packages with "stuff" in them. Framingham resident Toni Burrill called last week to say she received a note from Aaron. Toni said she sent brownies, birthday candles and candy.

Aaron also wrote to say that he'd eventually like to thank everyone who took the time to wish him a happy birthday.

State Sen. Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, sent a card with a note inviting Aaron to the State House, where they would toast his birthday on the State House floor. State Rep. Steve LeDuc, D-Marlborough, state Sen. Pam Resor, D-Acton, and U.S. Rep. James McGovern, D-3rd, sent a Massachusetts tourism package.

"They also wrote a very nice letter with the seal and all that," Aaron wrote.

"Aaron's looking forward to being a Massachusetts tourist," George joked. George and Mary Ann Stein were also surprised and a little overwhelmed.

"The kindness of so many people. That's what blew my mind," Mary Ann said."People would stop in front of the house and ask if Aaron 'got my card,' " George said. "It's just amazing that people you never knew and now you have some attachment to them."

One unexpected new acquaintance is a woman in Connecticut who read my column online. She said her son was in Aaron's unit and it was also his birthday. George and Mary Ann e-mailed Aaron who looked up the son. It turns out Aaron spent time with him in Australia on another assignment. The two wished each other happy birthday.

"I would like to thank all the 800-plus people who sent something," George said. "It is very comforting that people who don't know Aaron took the time to send something."

Aaron is scheduled for vacation time and hopes to return home to Marlborough in May. With a little luck, he can then meet some of the people who sent him cards and packages.

Ummm, yeeeeah.......

This is actually pretty well done... though I wish they had a Leia in there as Jennifer Anniston's character. I can just picture her in the car in the metal bikini sucking a slurpee and saying "Isn't that stealing?" or better yet waitressing in it and saying "I don't really want to talk about my flair."

Awesome Prank!

Gettin' Funky and not in a good way

I'm in a funk today... and I can't seem to shake it. The chiropractor thing doesn't seem to be helping with my back pain and I've been eating alot of crap lately. I want sunshine! It's April 4th and it's fucking snowing! There was a full moon the other day... I wonder if that is the cause of my crankiness? I'm tired too... we didn't get a spring break at school... no break at all until July 4th week! Then it's off to Scotland! There's alot to do before then and I am darn tired! WAAAHHH!!!! It's not even PMS week and I want steak and brownies. And a nap. Maybe a long hot bath and a cup of tea will cheer me up? Give the legs a thorough shave and moisturizing... that might make me feel better. Well, it will make me feel better to the touch anyway.

Can anyone tell me why jumpsuits are back in style?

Ever wondered...

...what became of Alanis Morissette?
Well wonder no more! Here she is tragically covering that stupid "My Humps" song. I couldn't listen for more than a minute... not only is it a stupid song, but to hear her warbling and screeching through it is just painful. Watch it if you dare.
