Random Update, blathering, stuff...

Hiya folks!
It's been a while since I posted something more than a silly link or six, but here I am for your reading pleasure. I just know y'all are hanging on my every word, right? Right?

I haven't posted much because I've been busy with holiday crap, but that's over for the most part. I hope everyone had a happy Chrismakwanzakah. To quote my friend Carol "We are gift giving GODS!!!" and our family gatherings were surprisingly drama-free. YAY!!!!! I've already bought my holiday cards for next year (on sale!) and I am planning my online shopping strategy to continue the "no-stress" vibe that was miraculously achieved this year. Fuck you Martha Stewart! You got nuthin' on me! She puts the cunt in country living, y'know.

I also haven't posted much because y'all are still not able to leave comments. I like comments. This is beyond frustrating and I am planning a complete redesign of this site because of it. (In my free time, right?) I am pretty sure the problem was caused by me using a non-Blogger (fucking blogger) template and then they had to go and "improve" things. Fucking Blogger... *slams head against keyboard* Arrrrggghhhh!!!! I am going to try using another template after the first of the year. Things may look strange around here for a while, but hopefully I will get to the bottom of this.

On a completely diiferent note, I got bored recently and started looking for people on MySpace. I do stuff like that sometimes... anywho... Josh says Hi to all of you that knew him way back when.

I think Artist of The Week is toast this week. Sorry. I promise. I know people like when I do that. I'll try harder... really.

Well, I have to go finish cleaning the house... Maria and her kids are coming over and we are going to make pizza! I also have to catch up on posting photos sometime this week. I know some of you are dying to see the holiday shots... patience my pretties, they are coming.

It's finally snowing! Maybe we'll get enough for a New Years snowball fight!
Have a safe, Happy New year Everyone!

ANNOYED

I have almost had it with the new Blogger and it's so called new features. Tonights new problem is that I can't post any pictures... Well, it's a free service so what do I expect? Well, I may have to switch over to Livejournal or something... I'm alomt THAT fed up.

If you haven't switched over to the new Blogger yet, DON'T. It SUCKS.

The comments problem continues... it seems to be only on this blog too... I seem to recall having a problem with the comments on this template when I first put it up... I wonder if it has reverted back to a previous incarnation of some sort? Whatever it is it is really fucking frustrating.

I do not really want to have to change my blog just yet... though I have been thinking about it for some weeks. I especially do not want to change it just to have this same problem pop up at the end.

I'm going to go bang my head against a wall now.

Random Blathering

Went to a fabulous Holiday gathering at Carrie & Tom's Saturday night. Everyone brought food and it was all wonderful! Who knew Mark could cook a turkey? YUM! we got the older boys toy tattoo machines and they were quiet all evening. It was incredible! Photos are coming soon!

Been picking away at little projects today... things I meant to do and have piled up... story of my life, right? Little things like when they mention a photographer at school, and they give us a website to look up and we write it down but somehow manage to never have the time to look it up... like THIS GUY... amazing stuff.

Also starting cleaning up and organizing my camera equipment wishlist, worked on a photobook for my drummer friends, downloaded some fonts, actually ate breakfast (OH MY GOD!) and have become a little more acquainted with my Mac. Each time I turn it on I learn a little bit more... but I'm slow and not ready to abandon my PC just yet.

The comments feature on Blogger still seems to b messed up since the swith to the new Blogger and I do hope they fix it soon. Another reason to not switch completely over to the Mac just yet is that Blogger doesn't support Safari and my brain already hurts from learning all kinds of new computer shit... I really don't want to have to add new blogging software to the list. HOWEVER... if Blogger doesn't get it together soon I may just have to do that. Grrrr....

Now to hop in the shower and get my ass to the post office.

Boston needs something like THIS.
I would so do that.

Artist of The Week!

This weeks Artist of The Week is Dale Chihuly!

Dale Chihuly is a glass artist who People Magazine called "the most famous glass artist since Tiffany" and I find his work simply stunning. I particularly like his chandeliers. To me they look as though they are alive and trying to wiggle out and touch me.

Go discover him for yourself by visitimg his website or simply googling Chihuly. If you use Google Images you won't be disapointed!

FEH...

I had every intention of getting up early this morning and getting a whole bunch of shit done. I have to food shopping, edit photos, go to the bank, go to the post office, do laundry, edit photos, make a book, burn CD's, edit photos, wrap gifts... you get the idea.

But no, last night a I gave in to my inability to fall asleep and hunkered down with a new book from Tamora Pierce. Damn you Tamora Pierce! Before I knew it it was 3:30 in the morning and now I am paying for it. I feel like I am hung over. I feel like ass. On the bright side, I am almost done with this book... I'll have to find another author to blame my sleeplessness on after this weekend.

I read my first Tamora Pierce book, Alanna, when I was in the 8th grade and have been hooked ever since. There were only three books out by her back then. She did eventually come out with a fourth, but then wrote nothing for over a decade. Now when she comes out with a new book I just swallow it whole. I lose sleep for about a week as I devour whatever new offering she has released. I realize I need to exercise some self control, but who can sleep without knowing what happens on the next page? Not me I tell you.

I also know I have an addictive personality... once I start something it's hard to stop. It's a good thing I don't smoke crack. However I am often distracted by the next shiny thing that comes along so even if I did have a robust crack habit, I would probably be on to something else within weeks. I won't even begin to write about my caffeine addiction... you've all heard it all before, and speaking of caffeine, it's starting to kick in this morning so now I can go get all the shit I had planned to do done.

On your mark, get set, GO!

Another New Blogger Complaint

Apparently people haven't been able to leave any comments on my blog since I switched over to this "new and improved" Blogger.

Frustration continues.

Update:
They seem to have fixed the problem with the word verification when trying to make a new blog. I am still finding things slow, but then, Blogger was always slow. I guess it's the promise of this being faster and then not being so that is annoying me. I don't know if the tagging thing is fixed yet... I'll try it with this post.

I did write in about the comment thing. I tried to leave myself a comment and couldn't do it. I was wondering where everbody went... boy do they make that write in feature hard to find! I guess you really have to want to let them know about something.

Okay, so either I am not so cranky today or things are actually improving. It's early yet though.

Update:
Okay tagging seems to be back in order... but for how long?

A neato thingy!

Oooh! Neat!
A fun thing for Flickr users!

I am a nice person.

Remind me why I am a nice person...
I sent a holiday card to someone I once lived with because I AM a nice person. I don't necessarily ever need to see this person ever again, but they were a friend and like I said I AM A NICE PERSON.

Unfortunately this person hasn't lost my number... and I forgot to screen the call... and I AM STILL ON THE PHONE WITH THIS PERSON.

Kill me.

Random Blathering

Yesterday was a really good day, preceded by a really good weekend. Really good days are rare. A really good day is one where I am productive and having fun AND I am in a good mood and no one pisses me off. I get very easily pissed offed and it's hard to come back from that once pissed-offedness occurs.

Yesterday I got a ton of stuff done. Christmas cards are 80% done, bills are done, laundry, backing up photos onto dvd's, presents ordered,
posted new photos... a very productive day. On top of it all work did not suck yesterday. Work doesn't always suck, but the potential is ALWAYS there.

Saturday we went to see Roller Derby featuring
The Boston Derby Dames at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington. I've got to tell y'all, roller derby is brilliant! It's silly, exciting and just plain fun. The next bout is on March 10... we'll see you there!

Check out
this article about The Boston Derby Dames (photographer Matt Teuten is one of my teachers!) More info about roller derby, finding a league near you and the official rules, can be found HERE. My roller derby photos will be up soon.

What NOW?

Hmm... What is Blogger fucking up today?
Well, they've got this nifty new tagging feture which in theory will make it easier for me to look up previous posts... IF IT WORKED. Yesterday it worked. Today it doesn't. I tried to tag something and then post it and it kept erroring until I removed the labels. On the bright side it did tell me why it errored, which it never did before.

AND!
When I went to make a new blog for the Diary Project I got as far as the "Word Verification" thing and there was no word to verify, and of course it wouldn't let me go on until I verified it.

I am not even going to go in to the sign-in song and dance routine.

Did I mention it is now slower too?

Will It Blend?

Artist of The Week!

This weeks Artist of The Week is

He is the creator of The Boston Smile Project and as you may recall I posted about him a long, long time ago... so long ago I can't find the original post.

Bren paints wonderful characters and leaves them for people to find all over Boston. The only catch is you have to promise to smile at strangers more and leave feedback on his site about your smiling experiences.

I always wanted to find one of his paintings, but my luck just isn't that good. Fortunately he also sells his work online and at craft shows and Ron bought me one at a craft show they had where he works. Remember, this guy is from Boston and if you buy one of his paintings you are supporting a local artist!
(Well, if you live near me that is...)

For some weird reason this new and improved Blogger isn't letting me post pictures, but as soon as I can get it working I'll post a picture with this post. In the meantime go see his stuff HERE.

And y'all don't need one of his paintings to smile more... ;-)

Rant about Blogger

Y'all had to know this was coming... and I'm sure it won't be the last one.

Maybe it's just because I just woke up, but I am really getting frustrated with the new blogger. I have 2 gmail accounts... one is peronal and the other is my anonymous one for when I am doing all this goofy web stuff and I don't want anyone to know who I am. I have merged the anonymous address with my blogger account per the new Bloggers instructions. Now WHY does it automatically put my other email address in the spot for username and it doesn't simply let me delete and change it? No, it makes me take an extra step and switch to another user, which when I'm in a rush makes me cranky. AND if it's going to leave that address there I would be real reluctant to use a public computer for blogging.

It's a small thing, amongst many small things which are very, very annoying about this "new and improved" Blogger. If you ask me, I was fine with the old blogger... if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

New and Improved?

There's a new version of Blogger available and I am testing it out. Let's see how this goes shall we?

Well, first of all it's slow. Really fucking slow. Annoyingly slow. Slow, slow, slow, slow SLOW. And what's this "Please sign in before proceeding" bullshit that appears, but is pretty useless as it doesn't actually give you a place to sign in... and why would we want to sign in everytime we go from one function to another, hmmm?

Okay Blogger, so far, I'm not wowed by this new version. If I discover any features that are gone that I like I'm gonna be pissed.

Whatch ya readin' fer?

If anyone is interested here is what I have been reading lately:

- Fraud by David Rakoff
More funny essays - I listened to this one because this is a rare instance of an author being a great reader.

- The Nasty Bits by Anthony Bourdain
Considering I don't like to cook I read an awful lot of books about cooking. I do like to eat. (Okay, he's a great reader of his books too, but some authors should NOT read their own books. That's what actors are for)

- The Journey is The Destination by Dan Eldon
I love this book and I reread it every once in a while. It's one of those books that when it is once again brought to my attention it's for a reason and I check it out of the library and reread it to see what new message Dan has for me.

- The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists by Gideon Defoe
I love pirates and I am about halfway through this delicious gem of a book. It's short and a fast read, but I took time out from it to read Nasty Bits. So far I'm really loving it.

Great, I look like a guy....

Guess I'll have to try a different photo. That Pierluigi guy is scary... kind of reminds me of THIS GUY.

At least there's some broads in this one... I'll take Giselle anyday... and what's with the Asian guys? And the old guys? Do I look like an Asian male? And I am not tan enough for Errol Flynn.

Okay, last one, I promise... More ladies in this one, and LOOK! There's Giselle again! It's enough to give me a complex... perhaps that's why the guys are thrown into the mix? So I don't get a swelled head. Maria Bello is much prettier than her though. And look, there's Michael Palin! I'll take that, even though he's much, much older then me. What's with Tom Green? And uck, a Hilton Sister... I feel like I need a bath now. At least it wasn't Paris... that gal is so nasty she needs to clean her cooch with a bottle brush.

Shamelessly stolen from Amy! Thanks babe, this was a hoot!
Note: this is an excellent way for them to collect info on you... I didn't use my real name or everyday email to register. Use your judgement if you try this.

Welcome to Headache, Day 3!

Granted, the headache has receded quite a bit, but it is still there. It did feel like it was going to move down into my back for a while there... my back was tweaking something fierce last night. But I managed to get up and out of bed this morning, and I have decided to take it easy today and not go to work. It feels like my body has been trying to tell me something and it took me three days to to hear what it's saying. I am very tempted to go back to bed, but that will just fuck up my sleep in the long run, and the cycle of pain would probably begin again.

Hey whaddaya know, it's a full moon today! I thought it was Sunday, but it's actually today. THAT explains ALOT.

Monday, December 04, 2006

WOW!

This is long, but very well done!

A Fine Whine

Bleh...
I am flying at crank-factor 12 today. My headache has returned in a slightly milder form, but it has still returned. My back hurts. My wrist hurts. I overlsept and it snowed. I am very cranky. I want to go back to bed but I have a photo shoot this afternoon and then I am supposed to go to work. Maybe I won't go to work... I want my pillow and my blankies! WAH!!!!

Artist of The Week! (now in soothing lavender)

Artist of The Week is delayed due to a ferocious demon trapped in my head. Yeah, I've had a terrible fucking headache all day and didn't really feel like looking at a computer today... maybe tomorrow will be better.

You are The High Priestess

Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

Mythbusters - Do Girls Fart?

I love this show... apparently this bit was banned in this country.

Question...

I have an old journal from my childhood that I have scanned in its entirety. I was thinking of posting it here, one page at a time.

Now the question I have for all of you, and by all of you I mean anyone who reads this post whether I know you or not, is should I create a special separate blog for this silly project of mine or throw them up here?

Update

Welcome to Day One of daily posting for the rest of the year!
Of course only having 31 days left to this year this should be as easy as... well, as easy as posting everyday for the month of November.

The boo-boo strips covering my incision fell off in the shower yesterday and today I shot a few quick pictures of what it looks like. I'll post those as soon as I can because I know some of you are morbid enough to want to see.

Not much else to report... I'm off to clean the bathroom now!
