Artist of the Week...

... will return next Sunday. I promise. It's been a long week and we laid low this weekend, and I didn't feel like doing a whole lot of thinking. Naneenaneebooboo!

Needless to say my vacation post isn't finished yet either... oh well. I got laundry done though, and some more negatives sorted, and a card for someone at work started... and that's good enough for now. We went grocery shopping for the first time since before our vacation yesterday and the fridge is stocked and ready to go! I am officially poor now, so it's bag lunches from now on.

Ron is feeling alot better... he'll be going to work tomorrow and is scheduled to get a 24hour heart monitor on Wednesday. He has to keep a diary with it as well... this could be fun! ;-) I'm a dirty girl...

Happy Anniversary to...

Kenny & Carol
AND
Chip & Carrie!

Random Update

Ron is feeling much better today! Well enough to do some light cleaning even! Because there is nothing sexier than a man who cleans... He still has to wear a heart monitor next week and he had a bunch of blood work done this morning so we are now at a wait and see point. Thank you all for your concern and we'll keep you posted. (probably through here or Ron's site because frankly, it's easiest.)

Everyone seems to be having a shitty week. If you are not, please leave a cheery comment for the rest of us, will ya? By the way, you know you are officially entrenched into modern technology when you get snubbed on MySpace. Someone, who I thought I knew better than I obviously do, removed me from their friends list. Ah well... I don't know if they drop in here anymore, but they know where to find me if they need me and I hope to hear from them again someday.

I am still editing and posting pictures like a madwoman and if you have time or are truly bored go have a look. I have been updating the list in the previous post as well if you are only interested in specific photos. A rather long, vacation specific blog entry is in the works and I hope to have that done by the end of the long weekend.

I don't know if Kenny & Carol are back from Ireland yet, but I can't wait to see their pictures! I bet they will have some good stories to tell as well.

My classes and new schedule at work start next week! So some of you will be seeing less of me, and some will be seeing more. I am sure I will be looking for victims, er, subjects to photograph in the coming weeks. You have all been warned!

That's all for now folks... I'm sure there's more, but I need to go to bed.

STRESS

Well, I don't know if y'all have read Ron's blog lately, but it's been a rather stressful week. He had another episode yesterday that landed him in the ER again, but other than being very shaken and tired he's feeling okay... he isn't going to be running any marathons this week though and we will be laying low this weekend. He has a whole mess of medical tests to look forward to next week.

I on the other hand haven't been feeling well since our return either... I am pretty darn sure I have mild food poisoning. (Damn you Domino's!) Today was my first "normal" day in the bathroom... aren't you glad I shared? Maybe I lost a few pounds...

But on the bright side, I have some pictures posted!

Oh my fugging gawd!

Oh how I LOVE THIS SITE!
And then I thought, I don't believe I have shared it with you fine folks. I think the guys will appreciate THIS RECENT ENTRY about a Finnish death metal band called Lordi. It doesn't get more metal than a flaming battle-axe, eh? I can't wait to hear these guys. I wonder if they sound like Goblin Cock, who by the way are on MySpace. That alone is worth getting a MySpace page.

In other news, I am still slogging through vacation photos... and posting as quickly as I can. Check out my Flickr page for the latest.

And Ron had sort of a bad night last night... I can't really say anything more right now, but I'm sure you will get an earfull when you see us next.

Well this is a fine welcome home...

I am S-L-O-W-L-Y making my way through the 19GB+ of photos I took over vacation. Some of them can already be seen HERE.

On a different note I have been sick since I got home. Friday night we get home, order pizza, I pour myself a big glass of 2 week old fruit punch from Ron's Grandmothers 90th birthday party and sit down to check my email. The pizza arrives, we eat, and I have been racing to the bathroom since then. Lovely, eh? I don't know if it was the punch or the pizza, but I find it sort of funny that after all the restaurant food we ate over the last 2 weeks, I get sick only once I get home. I am sure that sampling the soju that Carrie's friend Tracy brought back from Korea with her on Saturday evening didn't help my intestinal distress, but who am I to pass up free booze?

Ah well, it's 2 whole days later and I feel like total ass. I would love to call in sick but it would look really bad to call in after a 2 week vacation, and this is my last week full time before I start school... yup, that would look mighty bad. Ah well, It's off to work with my saltines and Jell-O I go!

Eh?

Today we took a tour of the inside of the Parlaiment Building and got to go up into the tower. It was very cool! the view was amazing. We had dinner at The Highlander Pub last night where all the wait staff wear kilts. We also two guys dressed as the Insane Clown Posse, including Faygo bottles! There will be pictures! Lots and LOTS of pictures!

We have walked alot in the last two days and are now feeling it. We have found several sources of poutine and tomorrow I intend on having some for lunch. Tomorrow we may hit the National Gallery, then heading down to Patty's Pub to see Charles de Lint and his lovely wife Maryann Harris play. We were not expecting to be able to see them and this is an unexpected surprise.

We also visited the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography and saw some stuff that gave us both ideas.

Hello Ottawa!

Spent the last 2 nights in Niagara Falls... oooh look! Falling water! It was very pretty, but I don't quite get what the big deal is. We had a jacuzzi in our room and that was nice. ;-) Last night was our first night with rain during waking hours so we saw falling water while standing out in the falling water.

We stopped at the Jell-O museum in LeRoy, New York and now we are Ottawa for three nights. There is supposedly the worlds largest tulip festival going on here right now... we'll know for sure shortly! Now to go find some dinner.

I hope Kenny & Carol are having fun in Ireland!

What day is it anyway?

Yesterday we hit the Houdini Museum in Scranton, PA. And today we are in Niagara Falls where it's Amish on Parade Day. Seriously. There are Amish folk walking the streets everywhere... it's rather surreal.

Big Fat Update

Sorry about the lack of updates... we have had internet access since we got here, but I haven't felt like posting. I have been Flickr blogging all along though, and Ron has been updating.

Vacation Day 1
Traffic is the theme ofthe day. If there was a traffic jam anywhere between Massachusetts and Philadelphia, we found it! The GPS we snagged from Ron's dad is a very useful gizmo!

Vacation Day 2
We walked and walked! We walked to the Mutter Museum, which was AWESOME! Then we walked and walked all over town. We saw (and smelled) Chinatown, wandered through the historic district, then staggerd back to our hotel.

Vacation Day 3
We visited Laurel Hill Cemetery in a very sketchy section of the city. Lovely cemetery, but Boston has better. I shot TONS of pictures here, which I will subject everyone to as soon as we get home. These photos aren't nearly as exciting as the ones I shot at The Eastern State Penitentiary though. We booked a private two-hour tour of this fabulous place. We decided to stay in Philly an extra day so we could go back and explore this wonderfully creepy place some more.

Vacation Day 4
Today we went to the Martin Guitar Factory and took a tour. The smell of all that wood was, in the words of Julie the Eastern State tour guide, AMAZING! I took more pictures, but sadly could not capture the wonderful smell with my camera. We had dinner in a restaurant that was in an old firehouse. Sadly they carried the firehouse theme all the way through to the fodd... it was pretty much charred to a crisp. And I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as a badly done potato, but I now stand corrected. The place had atmosphere in spades though, and they made a martini that got better with each sip.

Vacation Day 5
Tomorrow we plan on hitting the Rodin Museum, then heading out of town. We are heading North and exactly where has yet to be determined. Stay tuned! I will post again as soon as I can, or when we get home.

Cheers!

I will be photoblogging with my cameraphone on our journey to parts unknown. You can see the pictures

See in a week or two!

Artist of the Week!

Artist of the Week took a break today.

Yup. I'm going to Hell.

This being Sunday and all I thought I would share THIS with you. If you are traveling in the next week, as we are, these may come in handy.

One more bit of strangeness...

Today at work I had an odd experience. I had a woman who had perfectly done, pale to the point of being victorian, make-up applied say to me "Your skin is perfectly porcelain" in a way that suggested she wanted to throw me in a well and start looking for dress patterns.

It was a little umcomfortable.

Only 2 more days until vacation!
We just have to get through Ron's Grandma's 90th birthday party tomorrw, plus do loads of laundry and various errands (still gotta get my damn car inspected...) and we are set to go! What else? Gotta return library books, um... buy road snacks, go to AAA and get guidebooks, make an appointment to get the bodywork done on my car and drop it off, run to the post office... hmmm... I got alot of shit to do!

The birthday card factory is open late tonight... We are going to be tired tomorrow! Bring on the Mountain Dew!

New Pictures!

Grab yer wallets kids!

Hear ye, hear ye!
Let it be known that for the rest of the month of May I will be selling my earrings at Annie's Book Stop in the Nobscot section of Framingham along with the fine crafts and photos of my friends starting with a special opening reception on Sunday May 7th, 2006. I won't be there, but that doesn't mean you can't be there! Don't know where Nobscot is? It's at the intersection on Water Street and Edgell Road in Framingham. Now go buy stuff!

What can I say but this is absolutely BADASS! How cool would it be to have a tattoo no one could see until you stood in front of a blacklight? Can you say full face Maori style tattoo? Full info on this technique can be found HERE.

Three Funny!

Monday, May 01, 2006

Ahh... the sweet scent of vacation....

We are in the vacation home stretch here folks! Planning, buying shit, doing laundry, printing brochures and making mix cd's for the road.

We are leaving a week from tomorrow for Philadelphia, and from there, who knows where we shall end up. Why Philadelphia? Well, that is where the Mutter Museum is!

"It's like babies in jars and stuff"
-
Ron describing the Mutter Museum to Taki

Yes, we are strange folks and like the creepy stuff. Also on our as yet to be named tour we will be visiting the Eastern State Penitentiary.

After a few days in Philly we plan on just getting in the car and seeing where our mood takes us. We are borrowing a GPS unit from Ron's dad, we have credit cards, and we are itching for adventure. It'll be fun to see where we end up.

I will of course be photoblogging on the road with my phone and I'll have more details on that later. We will probably not have much in the way of computer access unless we hit a public library or something.

Oh yeah?

In a Past Life...

You Were: A Forlorn Assassin.

Where You Lived: Spain.

How You Died: Buried alive.
