Artist of The Week!

This weeks Artist of The Week is
Jose Guadalupe Posada!
Whether you know it or not you have seen his work somewhere, on a t-shirt, in books or even at my house! He doesn't have a website because he died in 1913, but there is info on him all over the place. Check the list below for interesting links about this fascinating artist.

Just when I thought I had seen it all...
Fortunately we haven't *quite* had this problem where I work.
We've come pretty close though... but never like this.
Fire Destroys Taunton State Hospital
Full Story HERE and HERE.Since I got up this morning the story has changed and they are now calling it arson. More info HERE.
Firefighters had trouble putting out the fire due to lack of water. The Division of Youth Services uses other buildings on the property. I wonder if they will be allowed to go back to the site now that it is known to lack proper firefighting resources. Good thing it wasn't full of patients, eh?
More photos of this beautiful old building can be found HERE.
Photos of this and other sites can be found HERE.

Artist of The Week!

This weeks Artist of The Week is Nick Bantock.
I'm sure some of you figured I would get around to him sooner or later. I have been a fan of his since the first Griffin & Sabine book came out, but my favorite book by him is The Forgetting Room. If you only ever read one of his books, it should be The Forgetting Room. On his site you can see this fabulous bit of flash animation as well. Enjoy!
Lego Madness!
Good Afternoon fellow Lego fans!
Go look at THIS LEGO AIRCRAFT CARRIER right now!
I can't decide if this in ingenius or a terrific waste of time. I love Lego's, but I got shit to do, y'know?

The person who runs SWAPATORIUM is thinking of throwing in the towel. If you have ever looked at and enjoyed their site please go there and leave a comment telling them so.
Random Blathering
Wow... I make Dave McKean the Artist of The Week and I get over 800 hits in less than 2 days. Just goes to show you that I'm on to something, eh? Got that there finger on the pulse, eh? Yeah sure...
So I haven't been sleeping well again. I'm pretty sure it's the old hormonal, nightime, let's fuck with K's brain sort of thing. Throw in a full moon and lets dance! I love how nature designed women to be psychotic once a month so that men will appreciate us more the rest of the time, or at least be terrified into submission. I swear, the PMS is sometime worse than the real thing. I turn back into a moody teenager again only now I have the added joy of water weight gain. This should pass in a few days... now pardon me but I have to go write in my journal and watch roses die.

This weeks Artist of The Week is Dave McKean.
He is no stranger to those of you who are avid comic book readers, indie film buffs or readers of any of Neil Gaiman's work. I have been a fan of his work for a long time now and if you haven't seen his work yet please check out his site. I hope you like what you see!

In The Realms of The Unreal

Ron and I watched THIS amazing movie last night. It's about Henry Darger, a lonely old janitor who died and left behind what could quite possible be the worlds longest novel, complete with hundreds of paintings and illustrations. Simply amazing.

This puts the ANGRY back in AngryLittleBitch.
"The law bans abortion in almost all cases, punishing doctors who perform one with five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. It bans abortion even in cases where a woman is pregnant as a result of rape or incest, or if giving birth would damage the health of the mother."
Full article HERE.
Granted, South Dakota only had 1 clinic to begin with so I am sure most residents are used to going over state lines for an abortion, but this still makes me sick to my stomach. Here's hoping we never have to make use of information such as THIS. (Quick, print that before even telling anyone how to perform an abortion becomes illegal too!)

The Oscars!
Today's clothing swap was a big success! Thanks to all who were able to attend. We are officially donating ten 30 gallon trash bags of clothes and shoes to The Women's Community Commitee Thrift Shop in Norwood, Massachusetts. This was so much fun I think we must do it again next year. Picture's of todays event will be posted soon... I promise!
Now on with the Oscars!
Last year I stole the idea of blogging about the Oscar's as they happened from this guy, and that worked out just fine because if I remember correctly he didn't do it last year. (correct me if I'm wrong...)
Well, I don't feel like doing it this year. For one thing, I haven't seen any of these movies. None. Zip. NADA. And I feel like sitting on my ass with some chinese food and screaming at the tv with just my husband. I may take notes and post them later, but I don't feel like getting up and down all evening. And besides Andy does it better. Way better. He's funnier and more knowledgable than I could hope to be. If I bother to peel my ass off of the couch at all it will be to see what he says. I highly recommend you do the same.
If I have anything to say it'll be about what folks are wearing and I'll post it later. Now on with the show!
Andy's blog-cast can be seen HERE for those of you who didn't figure out the links above. You know who you are.
Artist of The Week!

This weeks Artist of The Week is Dan Eldon.
Dan Eldon was a photographer and artist and citizen of the world. He was killed in 1993 by a mob in Mogadishu. He left behind 17 amazing journals. You can read more about him HERE.
I discovered Dan when I came across the book The Journey is The Destination at the library. I highly recommed you get your hands on a copy of this book, as well as another book about him called Dan Eldon: The Art of Life by Jennifer New. I discovered both of these books a while back at a point when I believe I most needed them... perhaps you will too.
