I Want To See Some Art!
Now that it is getting colder out it's time to start thinking about going indoors and hunkering down for winter. What better way than to go to an art museum!
You get out of the house and you don't freeze your ass off! (much) I try to use the winter to feed my brain and see as much art and read as much as possible. Too often life gets in the way but I do try.
Below is a list of exhibits I would like to see and if anyone wants to take a field trip sometime, who knows when, let me know. Click on museum names for more info.
- The Danforth Museum
2007 New England Photography Biennial (Ends October 28th) This place is so close to where I work I am ashamed I haven't seen this yet.
- Hess Gallery - Pine Manor College
Lou Jones Exhibit - He's the artist in residence at my school. This one ends October 24th so I gotta hurry!
- The Photographic Resource Center
I don't care what's showing here, I just need to get my butt over there and check it out.
- ICA Boston
I've been meaning to get my butt over to this fabulous new place... just to check it out. THIS isn't a photo exhibit but it looks like fun.
- The Worcester Art Museum
I love this place. It has one of only two protraits in the world thought to be of famed Venetian courtesan Veronica Franco. Really. THIS also looks interesting.
- Fitchburg Art Museum
I'v enever been here either... does anyone know how big this place is? Is it worth the drive?
- Peabody Essex Museum
I LOVE this place! It never disappoints. I've been here twice in the last two months and there is a great exhibit going on right now consisting entirely og found photographs. I've already seen it, but you should go. Be sure to check out the Origami exhibit while you are there.
- Fuller Craft Museum
Another place I've been meaning to visit. Way down in Brockton.
- DeCordova Museum and Scupture Park
Not much going on in a photographic sense, but I love walking the grounds and shooting the sculptures at odd angles. Could be fun in the snow. There's a train exhibit!
- Rhode Island School of Design Museum
Not much going on here either... I'll keep checking because it's a fun neighborhood to prowl. Best in good weather though.
- Portland Museum of Art
This one is rather far away. I always check their website though to see if there is anything worth the drive.
