Plan B
The FDA has finally approved the Plan B Emergency Birth Control medication without a prescription, but with a catch: they will only sell it to women who can prove they are over 18 years old. This is a purely political decision. There is no physical or biological difference between an 18 year old and a 16 year old... or a 14 year old for that matter. Perhaps an emotional difference, a difference in mental maturity, but no real biological difference to speak of.
Women of ALL ages get raped, molested, have condoms break and make poor decisions. Younger women are especially prone to giving in to pressure and doing things they may have not thought through. Their lack of emotional maturity leaves them open to being coerced into doing things they may not be ready for. I am speaking from experience here... I did some stupid things when I was younger and I got lucky. I didn't get pregnant, I didn't get any diseases... all I got was a broken heart and I consider myself DAMN LUCKY.
I believe, and correct me if I am wrong, that a large majority of unwanted pregnancies occur in women under the age of 20.
I don't think of this as pregnancy prevention, I think of it as abortion prevention. If a teenaged girl were to ask me to buy this for them I would in a second.
(I am SO going to get comments on this one.)
