Mel Gibson
I threatened to go on a Mel Gibson Rant, and here it is.
Can you believe that people are actually defending Mel Gibson? And Jodie Foster of all people! In Patrick Swayze's case this is probably just a misguided attempt at re-launching his career, but Jodie?
Oh Jodie.
Jodie, Jodie, Jodie....
Mel's been trying to persuade people to his way of thinking about many things for some time now and now that he is saying something that people are actually listening to he declares that he was drunk and he didn't mean it. Yeah right. A coworker of mine says and I quote "A drunk mans words are a sober mans thoughts"
Ever get really drunk and said that you thought someone was ugly, stupid, a jerk or anything else unflattering? Ever get caught by the person you were talking about? We've all done it, and felt like shit after, but we generally meant what we said. You know it, the recipient knows it and many people have lost friends over it. It's a hard lesson to learn, but we all learn it one way or another. So don't you go and try and tell me, Mr. Gibson, that you are not an anti-semite asshole, mmmmkay?

Alcohol doesn't make you do anything you wouldn't normally do. That is a fact.
You can't defend something like that. If you said it out loud, it was in your head. The first anti-semetic word you say brands you.
There is no forgiving that.
To quote Bill Hicks "It's like someone just dropped a turd in your drink."
It's a shame, because I used to like MEl Gibson... REALLY, REALLY, REALLY like Mel Gibson. The Lethal Weapon mivies have gotten me through some hard times... and I saw Braveheart 27 times in the theatre.
But I used to have a crush on Tom Cruise too, and we all know that he's just KER-Razy! (Hey, I was young, okay?)
I guess another lesson we all learn in life is that people we admire will eventually disappoint us. BIGTIME.
What a dick.
In vino veritas.
I think what he did was horrible. And, though a pretty big Roman Catholic, I will in no way defend him. I don't know how anybody can.
