Not that anyone cares...
I was in my beloved Target (pronounced Tar-jay) last week because I had an hour to kill before I had to go to work. I was on a hunt for bra's and pants. Bra's were no problem.... found 5 that fit (a miracle) and they were comfortable and cheap, but pants... no such luck.
I was surprised and sorely disappointed to find that all of the pants I found were those capri length ones that stop between the knees and ankle. I think this style of pants works on shorter women, and they look comfortable, but I don't like the way they look on me. They also require footwear styles that I do not own. When I finally caved in and said oh what the hell, I'll give them a try I found none that were in my size. If it weren't for the bra success it would have been a most frustrating shopping experience I have had in a long time.
Target also seems to be taken over by buyers with the worst case of ugly fashion sense I have ever seen. Who chooses this crap for their stores? Am I going to have to *gulp* suck it up and take my cheap ass to the mall? Target was my safe bet for black work pants and comfy, servicable work shirts. Alas... those days are gone.
Where have all the long black pants gone? I'm over the the low waistline thing now that I have seen enough bellies in worse shape than mine (and whiter) being flaunted by the low-waist/short shirt phenomenon of the last year or so but I couldn't even find a pair of those! What's a long legged girl to do?
Oh Target! I stayed with you through some growing pains... such as your questionable birth control prescription dispensing policies, but I am afraid I cannot shop there if there simply is nothing I want to buy. By the way, I did a quick Google search on those birth control policies and could not find anything that said what the policy currently was in Target pharmacies... can anyone else find anything? I thought I read somewhere that it was a rogue pharmacist, but I couldn't find anything definative.
Well, I'll stop now before this becomes a rant on birth control and womens rights... that my friends is a different rant for a different day. Today I was feeling mildly bitchy and chose to bitch about pants. I really need to find something more interesting to bitch about...

Try Kohl's. I have better luck there. Last pair of jeans I bought were $3.50. Of course, I only shop the clearance racks.
I happened to shop at a Belk's recently, looking for some lingerie. I was pleased to find not only a nice waist-tamer, but a strapless bra in a 38D that actually stayed up and didn't make my breasts look like they're resting on a shelf. It was marked at $55, which is actually not too bad, considering what I was looking for. I was willing to pay it. I got up the register, and the darn thing rang up for $6.95. After double checking the barcode, the cashier said "I guess it's on sale," and gave me the total.
Hell, if I was the cashier, I'd have probably called a manager to double check.
But I did see some nice things at reasonable prices. I'll go back at some point, I think.
