Artist of The Week!

This weeks Artist of The Week is Frida Kahlo!

If you have never seen Frida Kahlo's work before I highly recommend you seek it out. Go to the library and check out one of the many books about her and just look. Her work is amazing and was often very personal. She suffered a terrible accident when she was 18 leaving her in constant pain and unable to have children and her work explores all of the physical and emotional turmoil stemming from this tragic event in her life.

She married another famous artist by the name of Diego Rivera. While his work isn't my cup of tea it is worth checking out as well. Their relationship was a rocky, but a very interesting one.

Anoyone who is interested in reading more in depth about Frida Kahlo and her life should read Frida: A Biographyof Frida Kahlo by Hayden Herrera. The movie Frida starring Salma Hayek is also a good introduction into her life as well as a good film full of stunning visuals.
