Bill & Amanda's Wedding!
Well, now that Bill & Amanda are safely hitched we can all relax!
The last few days have been busy, Ron has been sick with chesty badness and his gout decided this week would be a fine time to fuck with him, and on top of that I have been indisposed in a feminine sort of way. Other than my back rebelling against me, and cramps from hell, there are a few things I crave at this time of the month and the wedding reception provided all of them in the form of filet mignon, sweets and liquor.... two words: open bar.
Here are some statistics from last night:
Total number of guests: about 190
Drinks spilled on me: 2
Number of rolls of film shot by Dylan: 11
Photos taken by me: 353
Church Toilets clogged: 1 (I swear it wasn't my fault!)
Martini's had by moi: 2
Folks pulled over by police on their way to reception: 1 (hi Fraser!)
Hairpins digging into my skull: 67
Guests forgotten at church: 3
Awkward moments with relatives: surprisingly few
We could not have asked for better weather. 55 degrees in New England in January is nothing short of a miracle. I had nightmares of there being a blizzard for the last 6 months or so, but apparently Bill & Amanda have some good connections with Mother Nature... or they owe some weather deity their firstborn.
The ceremony was lovely. St. Theresa's in Sherborn is a very pretty little church. Apparently the inside ceiling is designed to look like Noah's Ark turned upside down, and the woodwork is gorgeous. Some day I will have a house with woodwork like this.
The bride cried, as she knew she would. Apparently Amanda cries at all weddings and the potential for a true blubber fest was high. She managed to pull it together rather well though. The dress was beautiful of course and I hope the pictures I took do it justice. Fortunately they hired a professional photographer so I felt free to be the "candids queen."
My brother Joey was supposed to be Anthony's transportation, but after the ceremony he took off with his girlfriend leaving Anthony behind. He was also Melissa and the baby's transportation and fortunately someone thought to remove the carseat (Angie, I think?) from Joey's car and they all hitched a ride with someone else.
The day before the wedding me and Ron gave Dylan a little wedding present of his own. We figured that getting a new step-mom was a big enough occasion to warrant a gift of his own so we got him his very first camera and gave him a butt-load of film. He shot 11 rolls and learned how to change the film and the batteries all on his own. It appears that I now have an apprentice!
The reception was at the Charter Oak Country Club in Hudson and it was absolutely beautiful. There was just enough snow on the ground to make everything pretty and the facility was just perfect. The staff was great, though I must say they were a little quick to clear plates and glasses, and the bar staff makes a mean martini. The food was so good Ron actually ate salad!
Ron's toast was perfect, he brought his mother to tears and I was sure Amanda was going to lose it again... and just after pulling herself together from her fathers speech.
Bill & Amanda are now soaking up some sunshine and much needed rest in Aruba.
I should have my pictures up in the next couple of days... there's alot of them and many of them need fixing, especially towards the end of the batch as the more tired I got, the sloppier I became.

Kris your hair is an engineering marvel!! And pretty dress! I did a quick dash through the pics and it just seemed like a really nice day- I'm so happy for them both and glad the weather cooperated.
Fraiser in a suit...I never thought I would see the day. You both looked great, I'm glad the day went well for them.
It was strange not having you at Jack's birthday party. I think I got ten pictures total.
