None of that "Yeah, but it's pretty" bullshit here!

I had the shittiest commute home today... yeah they closed work early because of the snow, but not early enough to make a difference. It took me 2 hours to get home and it's only 16 miles. Carol said she would call me when she got home... we all left at 2:30 and it is now 5:42 and she hasn't called. Hmm....

When will they realize that there comes a point in every snow storm where it may actually be better to close the building, but let staff stay until the roads are plowed? When will they realize that perhaps it would be better to close the building and let folks go home BEFORE the roads become impassable? But no, they wait until it's the worst possible moment and thrust us all out into the storm to fend for ourselves. The entire downtown area where I work was a fucking parking lot because NOTHING had been plowed. Grrr..... I'll stop now.

Hope y'all got home safe!
Leave a comment and check in will ye?

(She made it home! YAY!)

Anger is slowly subsiding. I am trying to look on the bright side... at least I wasn't stuck HERE.

3+ hours to get home from Wilmington. Completely retarded road conditions and yeah, work called it way late at around 3pm. Doesn't give a real warm and fuzzy on that one. Most of my PMs and staff had been making their own decisions to get the fuck out of dodge which could lead to some backlash.

I think at least half the staff that was sceduled to work today called out and the ones that were there 1/4 of them (like myself) had to leave early because of the kids getting out early because of the weather. I took me almost 50 minutes at 20mph(at the highest) to get home. I should have just waited, but I wanted to get home for the kids.

Hmmm.... I'm sorry y'all are having so much trouble. It's 28 degrees here, and NO ONE down here can drive in snow. I hope we don't get a lot of snow down here. I can drive in snow. So can David (lived in Chicago for 4 years.)

But NO ONE else down here can!

Hope y'all do okay. Good luck!

We just stayed open until our usual Friday time (4:00), at which point the snow had stopped. My boss left during the blizzard, though. Your library has always had a bizarre snow closing "policy" -- many times I drove home from there and was unable to get into my own driveway b/c of the accumulation. Maybe they need to operate with a skeleton staff of locals when the forecast is bad (I know they could do it).
